Application

Frequently employed in forested areas, this 15 kV aerial bundle conductor cable can be used for primary or secondary overhead transmission lines. The wire is shielded by a high-density (rigid) or low-density (flexible) polyethylene sheath from falling branches, snow, or ice.
To cover spans across deep forest or secluded residential areas, tree cables will be employed. To maintain the lines clear of obstructions, covering such a space with standard conductors demands a lot of constant care. Protective covers can reduce maintenance to a large extent when overhead lines are necessary in wooded areas. Also safer for wildlife are covers made of polyethylene.

Constructions

According to conductor size, the tree wire's concentrically stranded conductors (AAAC) are either compressed or compact and come in AAC or ACSR. To suit various applications, the conductors can be insulated with either high-density track-resistant polyethylene (HDTRPE) or track-resistant cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE).

-Conductor:
AAAC (6201-T81, concentric stranded).

-Conductor Shield:
Extruded semiconducting thermoplastic shield which is free stripping from the conductor and bonded to the covering.

-Inner and Outer Covering:
2-layer low-, medium- or high-density polyethylene covering (LDPE, MDPE or HDPE), where the outer layer is track-resistant (TK-MDPE or TK-HDPE). All layers are bonded together. The outer layer shall be black or gray, sunlight resistant and track resistant.
